Feathered Friends came to the gear rescue today by having my down parka
all ready to go, and — against all odds — having
an Arc’teryx 350a harness in stock, in size “used to be
girl-sized but now I have legs the size of tree trunks.”
Even better… with shell pants and insulation the leg loops [...]
Or, in other words: I just practiced peeing standing up. And then, I
almost forgot to put the seat down. It’s Monday of Rainier week.

Early reports are coming in of an accident on the Emmons Route on
Rainier yesterday. Here’s word so far, from King 5. My
thoughts go out to the team involved, the climbers’ families, and
